Prof. Sin-Wang CHONG
Convenor (2022-2024) Sin Wang (Ph.D., SFHEA, FRSA) is Director of Impact and Innovation, and Affiliated TESOL Scholar in TESOL at the International Education Institute, University of St Andrews, Professor, Head of Evidence Synthesis, and Chair of the Research Ethics Committee at the National Institute of Teaching in England. Sin Wang is Visiting Professor at the Education University of Hong Kong and Visiting Scholar at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Previously, he has held academic and teaching positions in Hong Kong, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, most recently as Associate Professor in Language Education at Moray House School of Education and Sport, University of Edinburgh. Sin Wang's research interests are in educational assessment, education and technology, teacher education, language education, higher education, and evidence synthesis.
Sin-Wang is Editor of Review of Education (Wiley/BERA), Associate Editor of two SSCI-indexed journals Higher Education Research & Development (Taylor & Francis) and Innovation in Language Learning and Teaching (Taylor & Francis), and Section Editor of “Education and Language” in Elsevier’s Encyclopedia of Language and Linguistics (3rd edition; forthcoming). Sin-Wang is Chair of the Scottish Association for Teaching English as a Foreign Language and serves on the governing councils of British Educational Research Association and British Association for Applied Linguistics, supporting doctoral students and early career researchers especially in relation to journal peer review. |
Aurora Lixinhao GAO
Secretary (2022-2024) Aurora is a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge. She earned her MPhil degree with Distinction from Cambridge, receiving the Best Dissertation Award. Prior to her graduate studies, she majored in Spanish and minored in Psychology, achieving a First with a Best Dissertation Award. Apart from her research at the intersection of applied linguistics, psychology, and education, Aurora passionately dedicates her life to the art of violin performance and the mastery of multiple languages. Furthermore, she is certified as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

Ming Sum KONG
Treasurer (2023) Ming Sum Kong is an academic writing tutor at the University of East London. She is also a master graduate and a doctoral student in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, UK. She has a strong interest in linguistics, multilingual education and language use in English classrooms. Her master’s dissertation was about Hong Kong ESL learners’ acquisition of conjunctions. In her doctoral studies, she aims to look into translanguaging in an EAP context. Apart from her studies and teaching, she is also involved in different international and local research projects.

Qi LIU
Website Editor (2022-2024) Qi Liu is a fully-funded PhD student at the University of Leicester. She obtained her master’s degree in TESOL from Queen’s University Belfast. She is a Committee Member in the Research Synthesis in Applied Linguistics Special Interest Group of the British Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL). She is a Research Assistant at the National Institute of Teaching in England. At the same time, she has been appointed as an Honorary Research Assistant at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. She is the Social Media Editor for the SSCI-indexed journal, Innovation in Language Learning and Teaching.
